We will always understand that there is a human being behind the numbers and paperwork, and handle each with the honesty, integrity and concern they deserve.

In March 1983, Doug Black and Thelma Whisnant started Black and Whisnant Properties.  The office that they had rented was not completed so they worked in Thelma’s kitchen for two days. 

Doug and Thelma are both very giving people and they look at real estate as a way of helping people.  When you buy or sell a home, it is one the largest and most important things that you will ever do in your lifetime.  Our company realizes this and for that reason, we strive to give the best service that we can.

The company was started with one agent in a small office on South Union Road here in Gastonia. 

After about a year at this location, they purchased property and moved to the 2211 Union Road location where they remained for approx. 26 years.  In 2010, that corner was sold and they moved to where they are now.  365 N. New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC.

Today, they employ 2 full time secretaries and two part time secretaries.  Along with Doug and Thelma, there are 23 Brokers-Independent Contractors who hang their license there.  God has truly blessed this company.
